Aishwarya Rai'd mother in law, Jaya Bachchan the veteran actress, who turned 59 on 9/4/2007 is originaly from Bengal. From the day 'Guddi' was released she became very popular all over India on screen and in public life. After her Screen Career she became active in politics and became Samajwadi Party MP.
Like 'Guddi', her other movies like 'Mili', 'Abhimaan', 'Koshish', 'Anamika' 'Piya Ka Ghar' and 'Silsila' were
very much talked and Viewed. At the age of 15 she got a chance to play a small role in Satyajit Ray's
Bengali movie 'Mahanagar'. She studied in the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune .After Pass out in
1971 she made her debut movie "Guddi" with Dhamendra.She did her career seriously till her marriage to Amitabh. After that she became a dedicated house wife totally spending her time to her husband and children.
She was looked very much dearly to all Indians for her role in house as mother and wife role.
Later she produced the Popular TV serial 'Dekh Bhai Dekh'. Later she acted in 1998 'Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa' after a gap of 18 years. 'Fiza' movie brought her Best supporting actress award from Film fare awards for the mother role she played in the year 2000.
This year you can see her (2007) in Pradeep Sarkar's 'Laaga Chunari Mein Daag' ,where you can see her son Abhishek with her for the first time in the silver screen. Also there is another movie for her 'Love Song".
